The guinea keets are hatching every week!
we have MANY different colors in our main flock.
Sky Blue, Lavender, slate, pearl, royal purple, brown, violet,
bronze, lite lavender, powder blue and coral blue.
I will NOT know what color will hatch each week as our flock
is mixed in their housing so we get lots of different colors but
it is unpredictable.
Keets start at $8 each or 10 for $75 and as they get older the price
goes up.
WHY get guineas? One, they are very useful in helping drive off snakes.
they are busy birds and will harass snakes when they see them.
They eat spiders, moths, grasshoppers, ticks and many other insects.
they are NOT into scratching around in the garden so much as wandering
around visually searching for things to eat.
They free range well. they will roost in tall trees and if you raise them where you want them to
live/roost and feed them each evening at dusk (scratch or treats) guineas will stay home.
If you have dogs/kids that spend time chasing them they will generally head for calmer pastures.
WHY avoid guineas? they are NOISY. if you have neighbors close by guineas
are probably NOT a bird to own. Great watch dogs. they will "sing" every night at dusk.
If you have lots of traffic or strangers they are probably not for you. they call out
at any animal or person they don't know.
They do taste like pheasant if you process your own birds.
If you like feather art their spotted feathers are gorgeous.
