BEWARE OF PROPERTY MANAGEMENT BUSINESSES. These people are in the business to make MONEY. They are NOT your friends. When you GIVE them a DEPOSIT - consider it a DONATION. You will most likely NOT get it back or it will NOT be the full amount. Rent from the owner of the place you want to live, whenever possible. Seriously!!!
I rented a townhouse 7-11-2011 from a Property Management Co. against my better judgement. I GAVE them a $1,100.00 Deposit. I filled out my move in sheet and handed it in a few days later. None of the items I listed were ever addressed, until I moved. Whenever any of the tenants in our 4 plex asked for repairs, we were billed for the service. When I called them (for the 4th time) about my plugged kitchen sink, they never contacted me back. I had it fixed, at my expense, which was cheaper than their past bills. (there were tree roots pulled out of the pipes) I deducted it from October's rent in 2013. I received a call from the owner of the Property Management business and notified that "I DID NOT HAVE PERMISSION" to have the problem fixed and deduct it from the rent. She continued with a 60 day "NOTICE TO MOVE." I told her that I was scheduled for eye surgery and that it was the Holidays. Thanksgiving & Christmas. She could care less. I had to postpone my surgery and our Christmas was ruined. In fact we finally found a place and moved on Christmas Eve. I reminded her that I was disabled (which she knew) I am in my 60's and raising my 15 year old grandson. I have had David since he was a year old. (She knew all that, but she has a heart of steel.) The place you rent is suppose to be your home. I thought....

THE WORST PART WAS WHEN I GOT HER BILL. (As if all of that was not enough) Not only was she keeping my cleaning deposit of $l,l00.00 she billed me for remodeling the townhouse. Painting that should have been done before I moved in was billed to me. (There were stains on the ceiling) from some liquid drink that stained the ceiling by the former tenants. I was billed for a (NEW 5 light brush nickel Chandelier), new blinds I had just purchased to replace the old ones that became brittle from the sun. (which was the same in the other units), new toilet seats (bone colored) and repairs that were on my move in sheet and much more. Their GRAND TOTAL is: $2,612.34. This Property Management Co. never had the same workers come out a second time, which I am sure they were not paid or they found a company that was cheaper.

NOW I HAVE TO TAKE THEM TO COURT.

PLEASE, BEWARE OF THESE COMPANIES. THEY ARE IN THE BUSINESS TO MAKE MONEY. I could go on and on, but I am sure you get my message. Please watch your pocket book. GOOD LUCK

UPDATE: TWO DAYS AGO I GOT A LETTER FROM THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT CO. SAYING THE OWNER WOULD REDUCE MY BILL BY 20% AND I COULD CONTACT THEM TO MAKE PAYMENTS.
