I have 122 acre ranch, that mostly burned in the CarFire but not all. I am re-building presently and the 2 horses that had survived fine. Unfortuneately Dolly died later as she was very old. I have a Mustang who is a nice horse but skiddish and is by himself up there. He and Dolly got along great and I want to replace her.
I have always taken in older horses and it's a beautiful place for them. They have 122 acres to roam, although they basically only use about 30 to 40 acres. There is water 24/7 and plenty of grass. I am there 3 to 4 times a month and bring up hay and oats, but they have gotten along just fine for the last 12 years. I am at 2400 feet, so I get snow but just a dusting. I have a lean-to for them to get out of the weather. It's a great place for a horse.
Over the last 12 years I have taken in 6 horses from people who couldn't take care of them or lacked the space etc etc. I didn't ask or cared. I have lost 5, obviously, due to old age. I am looking for a mare. Now, you need to know, I know very little about horses, but am learning, mostly thru You-Tube. But I do like them and love having them around. Let me know if this fits.
