Integrated Resource Inventories, Inc. is seeking seasonal forestry technicians for the upcoming field season.


Must have the ability to be mobile and travel to remote projects throughout the west.
Provide your own transportation to and from the work site with a dependable high clearance vehicle.
Camp in remote regions with two or more people.
Ability to be very detailed oriented under adverse conditions.
Able to discern safety hazards.
Able to work independently and as a member of a crew.


Bachelors of Science in forestry, biology, botany or related field is desirable.
Substitute experience for a two year study in natural resources with credible courses including forest biometrics, forest mensuration, dendrology, plant taxonomy, forest health, natural resources inventories and analysis, and photogrammetry or remote sensing..

Field Experience

2+ years experience with technical vegetation measurements.
Experience must include coordinating and implementing field crews for efficient data collection.
Data collection must include ( under tight tolerances) tree ages, tree heights, DBH (tenths), variable plot designs, fixed plot designs, use of vegetation habitat type keys and ability to key out plants to genus and species.
Proficient knowledge of GPS operation in the field.
Have basic computer skills (PDA's).
Must have the ability to locate plot locations on aerial photos, topographic maps and with GPS technology.


The work requires a capacity for strenuous physical effort, such as walking and climbing over steep, rugged terrain with a 40+ pound pack, often covering significant distance and elevation. Backpacking and remote camping may be required for access to data sample sites. In many situations, the duration of the activity (such as most of a work day) contributes to the arduous nature of the job.
Work may be performed in a forest environment where the terrain may be steep, uneven, rocky, and covered with thick vegetation. Rain, snow, wind, or dust may be encountered.
