designed for deck ledger connections, which are the points where your deck attaches to your house. The spacers create a small gap between the deck ledger board and the house wall, which:
• Allows for airflow and drainage
• Prevents trapped moisture that can cause rot or decay in both the ledger and siding
• Reduces the risk of deck collapse due to ledger failure (a common failure point in unsafe decks)
How They’re Installed
1. Positioning – You cut and place the ledger board where you want it against the wall.
2. Mark and Drill – Mark hole locations, avoiding siding grooves or weak spots, then drill pilot holes for fasteners.
3. Spacer Placement – Slide the Deck2Wall Spacer over the bolt/screw, centering it on the hole.
4. Attachment – Fasten through the spacer with a lag screw or structural screw into the building’s framing.
• The instruction sheet mentions 3/8” x 5-1/8” screws like LedgerLOK, GuardDog, or equivalent.
5. Repeat – Install additional spacers as required, using the fastening spacing table provided by the manufacturer (to maintain code compliance and strength).
